One + One = Both
"It takes no time to fall in love,
but it takes years to know what Love is."

International Day of Peace
Happy Peace Day!
September 21 was declared the International Day of Peace by the United Nations in 1982. Sometimes, the violence that surrounds us may seem unstoppable. But then I am reminded of a quote from The Dalai Lama: "We can never obtain peace in the world if we neglect the inner world and don't make peace with ourselves. World Peace must develop out of Inner Peace."
May we all find our own ways of contributing to World Peace. What might you do today?

Daring to be ourselves...
I was first introduced to May Sarton through her book Journal of a Solitude. I'm thinking it's time to pick it up and read it again...

Letting go...
Sometimes the words just aren't there... and that's the space I've been in recently. However, I find I'm being drawn in (or drawn out?) with images: colours, shapes, tones, stories told without words. So rather than sit and wait for the words to come, I've decided to start sharing some of my images with you...
Pace e bene,
I created this image today. It's a good message for September 11th... and for every day.

The only journey...
THE JOURNEY
One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
though the voices around you
kept shouting
their bad advice --
though the whole house
began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
at your ankles.
"Mend my life!"
each voice cried.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
though the wind pried
with its stiff fingers
at the very foundations,
though their melancholy
was terrible.
It was already late
enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
branches and stones.
But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
the stars began to burn
through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
which you slowly
recognized as your own,
that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
into the world,
determined to do
the only thing you could do --
determined to save
the only life you could save.
